Tiny Home Gas Cooker Upgrade: What the Quote Must Cover

Check your tiny home gas cooker upgrade quote for appliance details, gas connections, site costs, licensed work and handover documents.

A tiny home gas cooker upgrade needs a quote that separates the appliance and factory gas work from the final site connections. Cooking style matters, but so do the nominated fuel, installation clearances and handover documents.

What Should a Tiny Home Gas Cooker Upgrade Quote Include?

More than the price of the cooker. It should name the appliance, the electric appliances it replaces and how far the gas installation goes.

  • Cooker details: Brand, model, dimensions, finish, burner arrangement and the manufacturer’s warranty.
  • Gas configuration: The cooker must be approved and correctly set up for the nominated fuel, such as propane or natural gas.
  • Appliance substitution: Confirm whether a freestanding gas cooker replaces both the standard electric cooktop and oven, or whether you’re adding a gas cooktop and keeping the electric oven.
  • Gas installation: The pipework, valves, connections, regulators and other fittings included, plus the point where the supplied pipework ends.
  • Kitchen alterations: Whether the price covers changes to cabinetry, the benchtop, splashback or appliance opening.
  • Clearances: The cooker must be positioned according to its installation instructions and the applicable gas requirements.
  • Stability: An anti-tilt plate, stabilising bolt or other restraint where the selected model requires one.
  • Commissioning: Licensed gas work should include pressure, leak, ignition and burner testing before handover.

Which Gas Supply and Site Costs Need to Be Confirmed?

A factory-fitted gas cooker may still require gas supply and connection work after delivery, so request separate costs in your quote. Some cookers also need electricity for ignition or lighting, particularly important for off-grid homes. Check the manufacturer’s requirements, power supply, rangehood operation and ventilation before installation.

  • Gas cylinders: Whether cylinders, rental and the initial fill are included.
  • External equipment: Who supplies regulators, pigtails and changeover equipment.
  • Cylinder location: A licensed gas fitter should assess its position and protection.
  • Site pipework: Extra pipework may need a separate quote.
  • Final connection: Who connects and tests the gas supply.
  • Operating costs: Refills, replacement cylinders and servicing are generally ongoing costs.

What Compliance Documents Should You Get at Handover?

Business Queensland’s gas work guidance says installers must make sure the gas supply is adequate for the extra demand, including cylinder storage, meter capacity and pipe sizing. It also says a gas system compliance certificate must be issued to the owner immediately on completion. Gas fitting should be done by an appropriately licensed or authorised person, so ask who that will be.

Keep the appliance manual, warranty, model and serial details, operating instructions and a written note of any site connection work still outstanding.

Confirm Your Kitchen Upgrade Scope

Our current 8M home inclusions list a standalone gas oven/cooker instead of the included electric cooktop and oven, with gas lines, connections and regulators, and a gas certificate is provided when a gas cooker upgrade is added. For your tiny home gas cooker upgrade, we’ll confirm the actual appliance model and where our connection work stops, in writing. Please don’t assume site works are included.

Contact Teeny Tiny Homes and we’ll talk through the kitchen specification. You’re also welcome to visit our Caboolture display yard.
